I PLANTED A BUSH ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND NOW AM NOTICING SOME YELLOW LEAVES ON IT AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT THAT. IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD BE DOING? SOME KIND OF INSECT SPRAY OR SOMETHING I SHOULD BE USING?
THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GIVE ME,
KAREN

Karen,

My two gardenia bushes, and the ones my neighbor has, all have a few yellow leaves right now. Not a great number, but definitely enough to notice. I think it is just the changing weather -- cooler and wetter -- because I've noticed the yellow leaves in previous falls / winters. I know they don't have insects -- and I have looked carefully -- so I just don't worry about it.

Not knowing what horticultural zone you are in (Houston is 8b / 9a), I can't say whether your yellow leaves are weather-related. But they may also be appearing because your bush is still young and getting acclimated to the new surroundings. I would examine the leaves very carefully for insect damage before spraying anything.

Gardenias can be very finicky about soil, weather, water, etc.; I'm fortunate to live in just the right place where they are happy to grow.

I have 3 bushes and only I has yellow leaves. It isn't just a few it's alot. My sister knows alot about plants. She said it may be too much water.

It could be too much water, or in the case of a Gardenia I just inherited, not enough water. Gardenias also prefer a somewhat acidic soil. Upon receiving this Gardenia with almost all leaves yellow and the soil bone-dry, I added a teaspoon of rice vinegar to a gallon of spring water and let it "drink it down" (it didn't have any surplus in the saucer once I was done watering from the top). Gardenias are also opposed to calcification - so if you have "hard" tapwater, spring or well water that is high in lime or other calcifying minerals, you would be wise to boil your water (and let cool of course) first or use distilled water for watering.

Hi I have three Gardenia bushes in the front of my home and they get full sun. But the leaves are yellowing mainly on the top of the plant with brown spots on them. Now I am noticing little white flying bugs. Can you please help me save my bushes.

Hi, I have a serrano pepper plant that has been producing fruit but its leaves are turning a shade of yellow and falling out. Most of the leaves were green at the beginning. I am worried that it will decline and die. This is my first attempt at gardening and I love it. So any advise will be awesome.

thank you
