Insect Identification. the texas cooperative

Insect Identification. the texas cooperative extension's common insects of texas image archive helped me identify the large milkweed bug.

I have small red insects on my Mountain Laurels. Its head and thorax are black. The abdomen is red with a small amount of yellow right under the thorax.

I don't want to kill these insects if they are beneficial or not to damaging to my plants.

Please help!
